Wednesday 27th January was Holocaust Memorial Day, a national day commemorating those who suffered during The Holocaust and subsequent genocides across the world. In the UK, it is observed on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp.
For the last 15 years, schools around the country have taken this day to educate their students on the atrocities of the Holocaust – this year’s theme is “Don’t Stand By”. In Wednesday’s form time, our students were shown a presentation in which they learned about the extent of the Holocaust’s effects and heard first-hand the account of a Jewish man who lived through the Nazi’s regime.
