Parent Governor Vacancy

By   /  11/11/2016  /  Comments Off on Parent Governor Vacancy

The Governing Body would like to invite parents to become members of their team which has the role of supporting the school’s planning and strategic direction.

We have 3 places available on the Governing Body

  • Parent Governor (elected by parents)
  • Co-opted Governors (appointed by the Governing Body)

Parents can apply for both; if we have more than one parent nomination an election will take place for parents to choose the Parent Governor.  Areas we are looking to improve are our partnerships with the local community and businesses.  Some knowledge of Law and or Finance would also strengthen the Governing Body.  This why we ask for a statement within the application form of between 200-250 words to support your application, saying who you are, why you would like to become a Governor and the experience you have to bring to this role.  This will enable parents to make an informed choice.

A full induction and training program will be in place and a current Governor will be a mentor to support you.

Please read the attached supporting documents which will help you to understand the role of a Governor and the commitment to the role.  There is more information on the Governor pages of this website.

  1. Declaration of Eligibility
  2. Governor body skills audit
  3. Parent Governor Nomination form
  4. Co-Opted Governor application form

Forms should be returned by 25th November 2016 – either handed in at Main Reception or by email to clerktogovs@patchamhigh.org.uk

If you have any questions please contact our Clerk by email.  Please note there will be a requirement for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to be made should you join the Governing Body.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sarah Fitzjohn Scott

Chair of Governors
