Patcham High School V Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month)
Nanowrimo is a world-wide challenge to write a novel in November. We are extremely proud of our 12 intrepid novelists, who displayed huge feats of commitment, imagination, team-work and determination in writing their debut novels this month. They totalled over 110,000 words between them and stayed after school every single day! (We did have weekends off).
We had some inspiring help along the way from best-selling authors Elizabeth Haynes (http://www.elizabeth-haynes.com/) and Julia Crouch (http://juliacrouch.co.uk/), who are both big advocates of Nanowrimo and very generously gave up their own writing time to talk about novel-ing with our authors.
Elizabeth was beamed into the library via Skype for a brilliant conversation about writing, and even did 10-minute writing sprint with us (see below!).
Julia came into the library and talked with us about writing techniques, how she got published and how she beats the internet’s distractions! It was a fabulous session!
Our writers are having a well-earned rest before tackling the editing phase of their novels, but look out for their finished editions soon!
