A community initiative between Patcham High pupils, staff and the Local Action Team.

Pupils and staff were invited to join forces with Patcham Local Action Team to smarten up the planters in Ladies Mile road.

Ms Lloyd, Ms Fraser, (C.A.L.M.) Ms Roberts and Ms Phillips (The Bridge) were joined by a wonderful and enthusiastic team of year 7 girls who represent our school ethos of Pride Respect Success.

Plants have tremendous grit and resilience and we can learn a lot from them. Gardening is good for the mind, keeps us healthy and active. Cultivating plants, weeding, digging and planting can help us develop mindfulness. It is a good stress buster; indeed 30 minutes gardening can lower levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. Taking an interest in our environment helps develop a sense of community and pride echoing our school motto, One Team, One Dream.
