At Patcham High School, we strive to provide students with the best possible mathematics. Our mission statement is: “Teachers in the Maths department are here to ensure that all students make a minimum of three levels of progress in a safe and positive learning environment.”
The curriculum we follow is based on teaching key concepts within number, algebra, shape and measure, and data handling. Throughout the curriculum students are taught to reason mathematically, and solve problems using the skills they have acquired.
KS3
The content we cover in each year is detailed in the tracker booklets students are issued. At the end of each topic, students reflect on their progress and are given feedback by their teachers. You are able to download a copy of the booklet your child is using so that you can see what they are learning in Maths.

KS4
Students begin studying for their Maths GCSE in year 9. The content we cover in each year is detailed in the tracker booklets students are issued. This year’s year 11 cohort will be writing the Edexcel exam – we use the Mathematics (A) specification. From 2016 students will be writing the new GCSE Maths specifications. More information will be given about these closer to the time.
