Adverse weather arrangements

Dear Parents/Carers
As snow is possibly forecast, please be aware of the following arrangements which we will put into place if the school has to be closed because of adverse weather conditions. We will only close the school if we judge it necessary to do so for safety reasons.
In the event that the school cannot open first thing in the morning:
- Parents will be notified by text message as early as possible, but certainly by 7.30am
- A notice will be put on the school’s website and on the Brighton and Hove Council website
- The local radio stations (Heart FM and BBC Sussex) will be notified and announcements will be made over the radio and on the radio stations’ websites
- Parents will be updated on further arrangements by text message and notices will be placed on the school website
- Students should work at home by accessing Moodle, Sam Learning and MyMaths which are all available from our school website
In the event that the school has to close during the school day:
- Parents will be notified by text message and a notice will be put on the school’s website
- In the text message, parents will be asked to text their child back with their permission to leave the school site and go home or to a place of safety (eg friend’s house, relative’s house, parent’s work address etc.)
- Once your child has shown their parent’s permission text message to their teacher, they will be allowed to leave the school site
- Students who do not have a mobile phone will be given access to the school’s landlines to phone their parents and gain permission over the phone to leave the school site
Kind regards
John McKee
