13th April, 2018.  08:30 – 13:00. Hall.

This year the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust are offering Tetanus/Diphtheria/Polio and Meningitis ACWY (Teenage Booster) to pupils in Year 9 in Patcham High School, on 13th April 2018.

These booster vaccinations are important for ensuring protection against all of the above diseases, and are now give in in school to improve access for young people, as they have previously only been offered through GP Practices.

If your child is in Year 9, they will be given a consent pack containing a letter to parent/guardians and a consent form (see links).  Parent/Guardians are asked to complete the form, detach from the letter and return to your child’s tutor or Mrs McEvaddy in the Head of Year’s Office, by Wednesday, 7th March 2018.  This must be done whether you give consent, or do not agree to the vaccination for your child.  In order to aid your decision, the letter provides useful information for you and your child, and further information is available on the NHS choices website or you can contact the Immunisation Team directly on 01273 696011 ext. 3789/8100.

Please be aware that if you do not return a completed form, any children who wish to have the vaccine and demonstrate they understand the issues involved (Gillick Competent) can self-consent but ideally, we would prefer that parental consent is obtained.

We hope that the information helps you and your child make a positive decision abou the vaccinations and the protections they offer.
