School Closure Contingency Plans

At Patcham High our primary aim is the safety and wellbeing of our staff and students. In addition to this we recognise the need for continuity, routine and predictability for parents / carers and young people. With this in mind we take all steps possible to keep school open, but have robust contingency plans should our school ever need to close.
We recognise that a school closure impacts differently on all of us. And we acknowledge that Children and families face a variety of situations and challenges.
During a school closure students will be provided with learning to do at home.
We would ask all parents and carers to take the time to familiarise themselves with the information below so that our whole community can support our students and ensure minimal disruption to their learning if we should be forced to close for any reason.
Staff will … set work according to the following timetable. The timetable identifies the subjects that they will be set work for on each day of the week.
In Years 7, 8 and 9 students will be set work for 3 subjects per day. In Years 10 and 11 students will receive options work (as per the timetable) and 2 core subjects per day. In addition, all students will be encouraged to spend 30 minutes reading each day and students in Year 11 will be encouraged to complete a minimum of 1 hour self-directed revision each day
Every weekday morning students will receive an email from each of the subjects timetabled for them that day. The email will detail the work that has been set for that subject. The emails will be sent between 8:00 and 9:00am.
Students should … Check their emails between 8:00 and 9:00am each morning and complete the work to the best of their ability.
Students without access to emails, a computer or an online connection will be provided with a hard copy workbook.
The school has high expectations of all students and during school closure we ask that parents/carers encourage their child/children to complete all work set. However, health and wellbeing are paramount and we appreciate that the level of work undertaken by your child will reflect the situation and circumstances at home.
During the school closure staff will attempt to respond to emails that relate to working at home. Staff email addresses are located under the school information tab on our website.
