Face Coverings

As you may have seen, the DFE issued a press statement earlier in the week on the wearing of face coverings in some secondary schools in England.
The press release from the DFE specifically focuses on those schools in high infection areas. As you know, our school is not classified as being in a high infection area.
The press release states:
The government is revising its guidance on face coverings for staff and children in Year 7 or above in England. Nationwide, while the government is not recommending face coverings are necessary, schools will have the discretion to require face coverings in communal areas if they believe that is right in their particular circumstances.
Unless circumstances change we are not recommending the use of face coverings at Patcham High. However, if a student or member of staff chooses to wear a face covering they will not be challenged and will not be asked to remove the face covering.
This issue will be kept under constant review. If we need to make any changes to our existing risk assessment we will communicate with you promptly.
