Brighton Secondary Schools Fundraising for defibrillators

Dear parents/carers,
Following the high profile events at the Finland v Denmark game at the Euros the secondary schools across the city have decided we would like to fundraise to increase the number and accessibility of defibrillators at schools in Brighton and Hove.
Schools have defibrillators, but most are kept at a central location in the school for ease of access within the school site. Due to the nature of our subject, and associated activities, we would like each PE department in the city to also have one in their immediate vicinity as we all saw how speed of response is so critical.
Beyond this, schools act as hubs for local sporting clubs and we would like those that use our facilities for engaging the local community in physical activity to have access to this defibrillator even when the main school site may not be fully accessible – for example, at periods of time at the weekends.
Aim: We are aiming to raise £12,000 to supply all Brighton and Hove Secondary Schools outdoor sports facilities with an accessible defibrillator.
Challenge: A team of PE staff from across the city, and clubs who use the facilities, to run from Longhill School to all the other 9 schools in the city. The aim is to raise £12,000 to fund enough defibs so all 10 schools in the city have access to one on their sports facilities if it is needed. Mr Hall will be representing Patcham on this run/slow jog/crawl!
