Sports Day

Dear parent/guardian,
Our sports day is designed to be a whole school occasion to celebrate both participation and excellence in equal measure. Beyond both a sporting and community event it has also traditionally served as an informal farewell event for our year 10 students as their last sports day.
This year has been incredibly challenging for all our school community, constantly readjusting to changes in guidelines in order to support and protect one another. Like many of you we have been looking forward to a time when restrictions can be safely lifted to allow ‘normal’ to return.
Unfortunately, due to local circumstances, we have decided to postpone our 2021 Sports Day as we cannot host the event in the way that would allow us to meet our aims. Despite national easing of restrictions local sporting venues are still restricting the number of students we are allowed invite. In addition, members of our school community are currently isolating and would not be able to attend and, finally, we do not want to do anything that would increase the risk of transmission that could lead to students being asked to self-isolate for the first part of their school holidays.
We are incredibly keen to ensure our students do not miss out on another schooling memory having sacrificed so much over the last two academic years so we are planning to re-arrange the event for all year groups next academic year, including our current year 10 students.
There is a lot to look forward to next year in terms of PE and Sport at Patcham. Our facilities will be open for curricular and extra-curricular use and planned developments both in terms of curricular PE and sporting enrichment that we hope to be able to share with you soon. A whole school sports day will certainly further compliment this provision
I wish you all a very good summer and look forward to welcoming the students back in September.
Kind regards.
