Talking to children about acts of war and terrorism

Talking to children about acts of war and terrorism
We are aware that many of our young people and members of our community are worried and affected by events taking place in Ukraine. Students will be discussing this issue in further detail during their Life Skills or Worldviews lessons this week.
The aims of this lesson are to:
- Ensure our young people have access to the most up-to-date news so they can compare what they thought was happening with what is actually happening
- Provide a safe space for discussing concerns surrounding the issue so students can reflect on how they and others are feeling and responding
- Create strategies they can use to manage difficult feelings and where they can find support if they are upset by the news
The below document from Brighton and Hove City Council provides advice on how to have these conversations with your child and support them at home. We hope you find it helpful.
