General Safety Advice – Brighton Youth Team

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Congratulations on reaching the end of another school year. We do hope you and your children are looking forward to the summer break.
Since the lifting of Covid restrictions we have seen an increase in young people gathering in green spaces and on the beach. We would love for your young people to enjoy their time off together and celebrate reaching the end of another school year.
We are asking that you have an awareness of where your children are and to encourage them to look after each other. For some young people, this will be their first ‘normal’ summer and this might result in them making themselves vulnerable.
Please consider:
- Talking with your child about where they are going.
- Encourage your child to keep in touch with you whilst out and about.
- Suggest to your child that they plan how they will get home at the beginning of their afternoon/evening.
- Speak with them about not leaving each other behind.
Over the summer we will be working with an organisation called ‘Brighton Streets’. They are detached Youth Workers who seek to engage young people in green spaces; they give out water/chargers/snacks etc. If you see us, do say hello!
We hope you all have a fantastic summer,
Kind Regards,
Brighton Youth Team
