Children’s Commissioner’s Report on Pornography and Harmful Sexual Behaviours Among Children

This month, the Children’s Commissioner released her second report on pornography’s influence on harmful sexual behaviour among children. The report is very thorough and includes some valuable data findings and information which we thought parents and carers would find helpful. It can be found here: Evidence-on-pornographys-influence-on-harmful-sexual-behaviour-among-children.pdf (childrenscommissioner.gov.uk)
The first report (released in January), along with a visual information sheet of findings, can be accessed here: ‘A lot of it is actually just abuse’- Young people and pornography | Children’s Commissioner for England (childrenscommissioner.gov.uk)
There is also a guide for parents and carers which was published in 2021 and offers advice about how to start conversation with your child about pornography, harmful online behaviours and healthy relationships: cco_talking_to_your_child_about_online_sexual_harassment_a-guide_for_parents_dec_2021.pdf (childrenscommissioner.gov.uk)
All of this information will make good additions to our Life Skills lessons on pornography, consent, online safety, healthy relationships and gender stereotypes resources.
