We are seeking nominations for a parent governor to join the governing body to support the strategic direction of the school, which is particularly important in current times. It is an exciting opportunity to contribute fresh and stimulating ideas and an excellent way to get to know and be involved with your child’s school and support its development.
We welcome applications from all parents/carers who have a child registered at the school. Experience of working in education is not required. A willingness to learn is essential, as is having the time to commit to supporting the school to develop and to act as a ‘critical friend’. We believe we are most effective when we have members from diverse backgrounds and experience. We are keen to encourage those from under–represented groups to apply, such as black and minority ethnic backgrounds.
If you are interested, please complete and return the nomination form. We have included some information about being a governor, which you should consider carefully to ensure you can commit to the role and there is further information on our website on the governor pages. Self–nominations will be accepted but if you are nominating another parent please seek their prior consent. You will then be invited to meet informally with a member of the governing body to complete some paperwork and find out more about the role.
If we receive more than one nomination, the parent body will decide who will be elected. This is why we ask all applicants to complete a statement of between 150 and 200 words to support their nomination, so that parents can make an informed decision when casting their votes. You should outline why you wish to be a parent governor and what you feel you can offer the school. You may include any information which you consider relevant – whether that be your work and life experiences, or your experience as a parent.
The closing date for the return of completed applications is Friday 1st April 2022. If you have any questions about the process or role, or are interested in assisting the governing board in some other way, please contact the Clerk to Governors at JJohnson@patchamhigh.org.uk or ASaunders@patchamhigh.org.uk Chair of Governors.
We hope to hear from you soon!
Yours sincerely
