Student Leadership
We believe in empowering young people to lead, inspire, and drive positive change.
At Patcham, student leadership is embedded throughout school life — from Student Council members to Support Students in Year 9, from sports leaders to Lead Students in Year 11. These roles provide opportunities for students to develop their voice, take on responsibility, and actively shape our school. We encourage leadership at every level because we believe that students who feel heard and trusted become confident, responsible citizens of the future.
Our school council collect the views and voices of students from across school and discusses these with a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This forum encourages leadership, responsibility, and active participation in school life. The council helps improve the school environment by working with staff on initiatives, organising events, and promoting positive changes that benefit both students and the wider school community.
Sport, Dance and Cheer Leadership
Our sports leaders are given opportunities to develop a set of skills and qualities that will be of benefit to them and others not just at Patcham but throughout their lifetime.
At the end of each academic year students will be given the opportunity to put themselves forward and apply to undertake one of the following roles:
- Junior Sports Leader (for students in Year 9)
- Senior Sports Leader (for students in Year 10)
- Sport Captains (for students in Year 11)
- Dance Captains (for students in Year 10 & 11)
- Junior Cheer Coaches (for students in Year 10 & 11)
If successful they will be role models for other students, they will be involved in supporting the school’s extracurricular clubs, fixtures and events, supporting primary school sports days and helping lead citywide school sports events. In addition to this they will be a key voice in the continued development and improvement of the PE, Sport, Dance and Cheer offer at PHS.
