We know how important a positive transition to secondary school is, and at Patcham, we do everything we can to make that move a smooth, exciting, and supported experience.

Our Year 6–7 transition programme includes dedicated visits, activities, and communications designed to build confidence, create connections and help students feel part of the school before they even arrive.

Our experienced transition team works closely with local primary schools to ensure we understand each child’s needs, strengths and worries, so they feel welcomed and ready to succeed from day one.

Open Morning	9am Monday 28th September 2026 Thursday 1st October 2026 Friday 2nd October 2026	Prospective Families	An opportunity to see our school running on a normal school day. See lessons taking place, have a tour of the school and hear from our Headteacher and Transition Team.
Deadline to apply for Secondary School	Saturday 31st October 2026	Year 6 Families	Apply for your child's secondary school place via the Brighton and Hove School Admissions website.
Welcome to Patcham	May 2027	Parents and Carers	An introduction to Patcham High School from the Headteacher and Transition Lead providing you with key information about the transition to Secondary school.
Singles Day	Wednesday 30th June 2027 Afternoon By invitation only	Selected Students	A small group event for students who are the only ones coming from their primary school – designed to help them meet others before Transition Day.
Transition Day	Friday 2nd July 2027 8:40am – 2:30pm	All Students	A chance for students to experience a full day at Patcham High. They’ll explore the school, meet staff, and engage in lessons, helping them feel confident ahead of their September start.
Key Information and Meet the Tutor	Wednesday 7th July 2027 5:30pm – 6:30pm	Parents and Carers	Following Transition Day, this event will provide some key practical information about attending Patcham High and offers the chance to meet your child’s tutor and ask any further questions you may have before the school year begins.
First Day of School - Year 7 only	September 2027	All Students	The first day of Secondary school for Year 7 only. A chance to spend time in your tutor group, experience a few lessons, an assembly and explore school without other year groups around.
