PE and Dance

At Patcham High School, Physical Education helps students develop their physical competence and confidence across a range of sports and activities.

Our core curriculum will allow students to develop skills, techniques and achieve a greater understanding of rules, tactics and effective decision making across a broad range of activity areas.

Our examinable qualifications will allow students to gain the knowledge and the skills that will allow them to be successful in level 2 qualifications (GCSE PE and NCFE Health and Fitness). This will give them the opportunity to further their education in these areas at 6th form college and University and/or follow a PE based career.

Our curriculum is supported by an extensive extra-curricular programme that runs throughout the year and is designed to give our students even greater opportunities to be physically active, develop skills, understanding and competence. You can find out more out about our extra-curricular offer here…(insert link)

Throughout their time at Patcham students will develop social and emotional qualities and skills that are transferrable and beneficial to wider life. Students will know the value of physical activity to both their physical and mental health. Ultimately, our intention is for students to leave Patcham with the physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills, knowledge and confidence to go on to a lifetime that is physically active, happy and successful.

Dance Information

Dance offers a creative outlet, with opportunities to explore movement, choreography and performance.

Dance at Patcham High School celebrates creativity, expression and movement. It empowers students to build confidence, discipline and a lifelong appreciation of dance.

Dance promotes both individual growth and teamwork. Through engaging lessons and exciting opportunities like school showcases and enrichment clubs, students develop resilience, creativity and self-belief. For those who choose to take Dance further at GCSE, the course combines practical performance with critical thinking, encouraging students to reflect on dance in society and deepen their understanding of the art form.
