Art & Photography
Art at Patcham High is an inspiring and thriving department where students are taught a wide range of engaging projects.
Students are taught a variety of different 2D and 3D skills and techniques including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, mixed media work and photography.
We nurture and develop students creativity by teaching them how to develop their ideas coherently, encouraging them to take risks and to take pride in their work. Students fill sketchbooks with observational drawings, experiments and artist research. Students also make more sustained pieces that allow them to feel proud of what they have created and teach them to understand that quality work comes from perseverance and the ability to refine their work thoughtfully.
GCSE Fine Art is a very popular and successful subject within the school and many students go on to study Art based subjects at KS5 and beyond.
