Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium (PP) is an additional fund provided by the government to enhance the education of disadvantaged (DA) students.
Inclusion lies at the heart of Patcham High School and permeates through all aspects of our work, epitomised by our motto of One Team, One Dream.
We are committed to being a school for all, where everyone feels included both as part of the school community and in their learning. We see positive relationships as a key driver of this.
We seek to use the resource of the Pupil Premium to support disadvantaged students in making good progress and provide them with the means required to thrive in school.
We deliberately use the term equity over equality as we recognise that our individual disadvantaged students may need different resources or opportunities to support them in reaching an equal outcome. Whilst we refer to our disadvantaged students (DA students), we also acknowledge that not all of our disadvantaged students are eligible for free school meals. Where non-DA students are identified as needing additional support, we seek to address this.
We remain aspirational for all students at Patcham High School and ensure that those who are at risk of underachieving due to the impact of socio-economic disadvantage reach their potential. We are ambitious to reduce the difference between the progress of our disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged students.
We have adopted a multifaceted approach as we seek to ensure excellent progress for all our students, driven by collective responsibility. Informed by national research, we understand the key factors in achieving this are a relentless drive to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom, targeted academic support via our coaching offer and reading intervention, underpinned by strong pastoral and wider support.
We want our disadvantaged students to feel a sense of belonging at Patcham High School, supported by our advocate team, and with an enrichment offer that ensures they develop as confident learners, well placed to flourish beyond school.
