Patcham High Inclusion Statement

We believe every child matters. We do not turn our back on any child. Every student should feel that they belong, be supported to learn and have the opportunity to thrive.

Inclusion starts in the classroom. We have high expectations for all students and believe good teaching is at the heart of inclusion. Our curriculum is designed so that all students can access rich and ambitious learning. Teachers use adaptive teaching to respond to individual needs, alongside relational practice that builds trust and positive relationships.

We know our students well. When things are difficult, we take time to understand what is happening for the child and work with them to find a way forward. We want students to feel safe, valued and confident in school.

Being included also means being part of school life. Students have a wide range of clubs, activities and enrichment opportunities to choose from. They can develop their interests, try new things, take on responsibility and contribute to the school community. Over time, we want every student to develop the confidence and independence to make their own choices and shape their future.

We work closely with parents and carers, valuing their knowledge and working together to support each child. We also work with other professionals and agencies when their expertise can make a difference.

We are proud of the way we keep children learning and connected to school, including those who may be at risk of exclusion. We work hard to find solutions when children are struggling and to keep them part of our community.

For us, inclusion is simple: every child belongs, every child can learn and every child deserves the chance to succeed.
