Students and staff at Patcham High School are celebrating today alongside young people across Brighton & Hove as Year 11 students receive their GCSE results and prepare for their next steps into sixth form, college, apprenticeships and beyond.

Today is an important moment for our whole city. The numbers on a results sheet tell only part of the story. Behind every grade is an individual child of our city, each with their own unique strengths, ambitions, and personal journey through secondary school.

John McKee, Headteacher

This year group has shown enormous resilience. We are proud of how students across the city have supported one another, responded to challenges and worked toward their goals. We are privileged to work in close partnership with other local schools and academies, sharing a common vision to support every single young person in our community. Success across our city takes many forms. For some, today brings exceptional academic results; for others, success is about overcoming significant barriers, making remarkable progress, or securing the grades that open the door to their chosen next step. Every one of those achievements deserves to be celebrated.

Our shared ambition is for every child in our city to leave education with real choices for their future and the confidence to take their next step. We are proud to be part of an inclusive local education community that maintains high expectations while celebrating the diverse paths success can take for different young people.

Today is also an opportunity to recognise the collaborative effort that surrounds this year group. We would like to thank our dedicated staff, our families, and our peer schools across the city for the partnership, shared expertise and encouragement provided over the past five years.

Most importantly, congratulations to the Class of 2026. We are incredibly proud of what you have achieved, of the young people you have become and we look forward to seeing what you do next.

It has been such a special day today seeing our students faces light up as they opened their results and watching them celebrate with their friends, family and teachers, we are so proud of their achievements. Despite the introduction of the new results app, it was wonderful to see our highest turnout of students wanting to collect their results in person - testament to the relationships they have built at Patcham High."
